ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This Chevawn Hills Scholarship Fund is dedicated to supporting high school seniors who aspire to enter the fields of cosmetology or barbering. This fund awards $500 to eligible students who have demonstrated a commitment to their chosen profession and exhibit the potential to excel in their studies. Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with pursuing a career in cosmetology or barbering, allowing students to focus on their education and skill development.

​The Chevawn Hills Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of Chevawn Hills, a visionary in the beauty industry known for her dedication to nurturing young talent. This scholarship reflects our commitment to continuing her legacy by supporting aspiring professionals in the cosmetology and barbering fields.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • High School Graduation: Must be a graduating high school senior from an accredited high school in the United States.

  • Intended Major: Must be planning to enroll in an accredited cosmetology or barbering program at a vocational school, technical school, or community college.

  • Academic Performance:
    - Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
    - Submission of high school transcript.

  • Financial Need: Preference may be given to students who demonstrate financial need. Submission of FAFSA or a financial need statement may be required.

  • Community Involvement: Demonstrated involvement in community service, particularly in activities related to beauty, grooming, or personal care.

application CRITERIA

  • Completed Application Form: Submit a fully completed scholarship application form.

  • Essay: Please write a personal statement (300-500 words) detailing your career aspirations in the field of cosmetology or barbering, your interest in pursuing this career, and how receiving this scholarship would impact your educational and career goals. Include any relevant experiences or achievements.

  • Academic Requirement: Must submit current High School Transcript

  • Letter of Recommendation: Provide one or two letters of recommendation from school administrators, teachers, mentors, or employers who can speak to your character, work ethic, and passion for cosmetology/barbering.

  • Proof of Enrollment: Scholarship recipients must provide proof of enrollment in an accredited cosmetology or barbering program before the funds are disbursed.
